Monday 30th May
We left Levico this morning - how different the campsite was looking from when we arrived, now with loads of empty pitches and drizzly rain replacing the hot sun. We were travelling east, so maybe we'd run out of the rain(?!) Well we did for a while, soon after stocking up the fridge at a huge Famila Supermarket and the fuel tank at Esso (where we were also given 2 free goodie bags containing crisps and a Red Bull drink!) at Feltre.

The road took us through a wide valley with high rocky cliffs eventually skirting Belluno, perched high above the main road. Then we joined the motorway (A27) south to Vittorio Veneto (not very far from Venice here) and then off it again to find a very green little campsite called Al Lago di Lago. Yet another little lake, this one bathed in sunshine. But not for long! Soon came those tell-tale rumbles and then the deluge, this time with a few hailstones thrown in!

Tuesday 31st May
The grey clouds are still with us today but always looking on the bright side, we packed up our picnic lunch for the short walk uphill to the nearest village of Tarzo. But I needed the spare battery for my camera as my usual one needed charging. It took about an hour to find it - this van is pretty small and it had to be somewhere. That somewhere was in the pocket of a pair of John's shorts that had been through the wash at Levico, dried and neatly folded in the wardrobe! I am very pleased that the battery had survived this treatment, but by this time the rain had started again, so the walk was postponed until the next dry patch around 2.30.

| We finished a jigsaw while it rained |

The monument one led us to yet another monument - a lovely bronze sculpture of a father and daughter greeting each other. I took a photo of the plaque and have google translated it ... "Meeting" the bitter shore of the distance flowing destroys nostalgia and deep loneliness ... mmmm!

While I was cooking dinner John discovered that the bathroom tap was dripping into the small cupboard under the basin and making the spare towels and flannels in there rather wet. It looked like the braided pipe into the tap body was leaking and not curable. He disconnected the hot and cold supply pipes and blanked them off. He just happened to have the right bits of plumbing in his kit!! However, we now can't use the bathroom basin tap for the rest of the holiday. Another job for Premier Motorhomes when we return!
Later, of course the rain returned and during the evening it's gone from thunder and lightning downpours to no rain but high wind and now perfect silence (except a dog barking in the distance). We wonder what tomorrow will bring ... but Slovenia here we come!
