Tuesday 7th June
Today's blog is going to be mainly photos as our wifi here is the 24hr continuous sort. We started it at 8.15 last night, so need to get published by 8.14 tonight! Otherwise we have to pay another 2€ - heaven forbid!
We caught the bendy bus into Ljubljana late morning and spent the rest of the day either in the beautiful sunshine enjoying the market, the architecture and the geocaches or in the cool of a shady street restaurant and castle. The latter is high on a hill above the town, with a glass funicular that takes you up in one minute. The castle has been restored so that the various rooms and towers are small museums, including a Virtual Museum where we watched a film about the history of the castle. We climbed the spiral staircase to the top of the clock tower, where we had to ignore the clenching we felt from waist downwards(!) to look over the low parapet and admire the view - that stretched for miles on such a clear day.
We found the network of footpaths behind the castle through the woods and wound our way down back to the town. An ice cream revived us so that we could go and look in the cathedral before catching the bendy bus again.
Everything is proving to be very easy to understand in Slovenia, the reason being that most signs and instructions are in English as well. On the bus yesterday we sat by a sticker that said the seat was for pregnant ladies - today for book-readers. We got away with sitting in both!

It was good to catch up with you and see all your photos. We are pleased that you are having such a wonderful holiday. We leave tomorrow night ... we thought we would be more organised but church media, drains, contractors etc have got in the way this week. Emma also 'wondered' if I could make some cakes for her to sell at work in aid of her half marathon for MS! I am sure we can relax when we board the Pont Aven at Plymouth tomorrow evening - we have decided to board early and have a meal in the restaurant overlooking Plymouth Sound. xx
